Critical acclaim for Marwood world premiere
On May 14–17, Anthony Marwood, Coleman Itzkoff, and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, led by Jamie Martín, premiered Christopher Cerrone’s ‘Selah’, a new double concerto for violin and cello in three performances across Costa Mesa, Los Angeles, and Beverly Hills. The piece was a co-commission with Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, and its premiere has received high praise.
Writing in The Violinist, Laurie Niles praises the performance: “Marwood and Itzkoff hit their mark, drawing the audience into this curious kind of drama with this figure that felt somehow both spontaneous and perfectly calculated.”
Harlow Robinson of Classical Voice comments that “Marwood and Itzkoff drew on their obvious close musical and personal rapport to give a committed and spirited performance, revelling in the rapid-fire dialogue. ”
Marwood will return to the United States in the 2026-27 season to perform ‘Selah’ with Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra and Coleman Itzkoff, led by Chia-Hsuan Lin.
