This season marks a major milestone for Andrew Litton, who is celebrating 10 years as Music Director of New York City Ballet.

Since his appointment in 2015, Litton has brought a wealth of experience and artistry to the orchestra pit – leading everything from timeless classics like The Nutcracker, Swan Lake and Romeo & Juliet to championing new and diverse repertoire that has shaped NYCB’s distinctive musical voice.

Over the past decade, Litton has guided the NYCB through a broad range of performances, strengthening its reputation for versatility and excellence, and playing a central role in the company’s musical life. Reflecting on his tenure, he says:

There’s still a frisson after 10 years of walking into that pit and bowing and knowing, as you look at the faces in the audience, that when you turn around you’re going to change lives. Because that’s what our performances do.”
