Today sees the release of Italian-American violinist Francesca Dego’s latest concerto album alongside the BBC Symphony Orchestra and their Principal Guest Conductor Dalia Stasevska.

Having performed the Brahms since she was a teenager, and no stranger to taking the Busoni to the concert platform, the release of Francesca Dego’s latest album on the Chandos label presents the violin concertos of both composers, a noteworthy addition to her impressive discography. Alongside the Brahms, the disc advocates the lesser-known and relentlessly virtuosic violin concerto of Ferruccio Busoni in the year that marks one hundred years since his death.

Talking recently in The Strad magazine Francesca describes her approach as “Brahms without the beard”. In praise of the latest album, The Scotsman’s five-star review writes: “… the remarkable Italian-born violinist Francesca Dego[‘s] … performances with the BBC Symphony Orchestra under Dalia Stasevska are ravishingly pure, precise and purposeful, with a radiance and opulent virtuosity that embraces an overall Romantic ethos.”
