Following his return to Mumbai earlier this autumn, Alpesh Chauhan tours London’s Cadogan Hall, Symphony Hall Birmingham and Edinburgh’s Usher Hall with the Symphony Orchestra of India this week. The programme features a new Triple Concerto by composer and tabla player Zakir Hussain, who performs the solo part together with Niladri Kumar, sitar, and Rakesh Chaurasia, bansuri, and which received its world premiere in Mumbai in September. The concerts open with Strauss’ Rosenkavalier suite, and will end with Petrushka, Stravinsky’s masterpiece.
