Anthony Marwood returns to Madrid tonight to perform Thomas Adès’ Märchentänze for violin and orchestra with the Orquesta Nacional de España. Conducted by the composer, the final performance of the week on Sunday March 12 will be broadcast live from the Auditiorio Nacional de Música on Radio Clásica.

The four Märchentänze (‘Dances from Fairytale’) were originally written for violin and piano before being adapted for orchestra one year later. Marwood has a long-standing relationship with Adès, with his violin concerto Concentric Paths (2005) written for him and premiered at the Berliner Festspiele.

Marwood’s other highlights this season include performances with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Trondheim Soloists and at the Melbourne Recital Centre.
