Tito Muñoz, returning from a week at Brevard Music Center, had just landed at Newark Airport near New York City on Sunday afternoon when he received a call from us re-routing him to Detroit to jump in with the DSO this week. He will appear in two performances at Interlochen Center for the Arts, one with the DSO and one with the DSO players and those of the World Youth Symphony Orchestra side-by-side. Jump-ins are unfortunately a more common feature of the business post-Covid and as always, Tito, the ultimate professional, stepped up without fuss or hesitation. He is due back at Interlochen in early August for his own week with the World Youth Symphony, conducting the final concert of their 2022 season.
