International Opera Awards Newcomer of the Year

Alpesh Chauhan has been announced winner of Newcomer of the Year at the International Opera Awards 2020 at the virtual ceremony which took place on Monday, 10 May 2021. The award was bestowed to Alpesh in recognition of his work with Birmingham Opera Company, who themselves won the Education & Outreach Award, on the acclaimed 2019 production of Shostakovich’s Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk. He has since been named Music Director of the Company, and forthcoming plans include RhineGold, scheduled for summer 2021.
