Alpesh Chauhan has been announced Associate Conductor of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra. This follows regular appearances with the orchestra since May 2015, when he stepped in at short notice to conduct two concerts featuring works by Janacek and Shostakovich. At the time, The Herald commented: “There cannot be the slightest doubt that in the young British conductor Alpesh Chauhan … the SSO has a real find on its hands”.

The news is announced as Alpesh is in Glasgow, rehearsing with the orchestra for BBC Radio 3 recordings and a concert streamed on the orchestra’s website on Wednesday, 26 August.
