José Salazar returns to Covent Garden
Conductor José Salazar has returned to Covent Garden to open the summer run of the Royal Ballet’s La fille mal gardée, with performances beginning this Saturday. He will conduct ten performances of Sir Frederick Ashton’s much loved ballet, with music by Ferdinand Hérold, running from 23 May to 9 June 2026.
He will then join the company on tour in Japan, leading further performances of La fille mal gardée and also serving as Assistant Conductor for the Royal Ballet’s productions of Giselle. Performances begin on 3 July 2026 at Tokyo’s NHK Hall.
Following two seasons as a Jette Parker Artist at the Royal Opera House, and his previous performances of La fille mal gardée in November 2025, José is delighted to return once again this summer.
We wish José the very best for the weeks ahead – toi toi toi!
