Martin James Bartlett joins Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie
This week, pianist Martin James Bartlett joins the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie for a series of performances across Germany as part of the festival Mozart meets Prokofiev.
The festival opens on 22nd May with a chamber concert in Bad Salzuflen featuring Mozart’s Violin Sonata in E minor, KV 304, Prokofiev’s Piano Sonata No. 7 in B-flat major, Op. 83, and Mozart’s Piano Quartet No. 1 in G minor, KV 478. Bartlett is joined by violinist Benjamin Baker, violist Natalie Loughran and cellist Jonathan Bloxham.
On 23rd May, Bartlett performs Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 in C minor, KV 491 with the orchestra in Bad Salzuflen, alongside the Così fan tutte Overture and Prokofiev’s Symphony No. 5, conducted by Jonathan Bloxham.
The festival continues on 24th May with a chamber matinee including Prokofiev’s Overture on Hebrew Themes, the Violin Sonata in D major, Op. 94, and Mozart’s Piano Quartet No. 2 in E-flat major, K. 493.
His final concert is on 27th May in Paderborn, where Bartlett once again performs Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 24 with the Nordwestdeutsche Philharmonie.
Artists appearing across the festival include clarinettist Max Schweiger, violinists Benjamin Baker and Hans Henning Ernst, violist Natalie Loughran and Jonathan Bloxham.
