This weekend, Irish conductor Karen Ní Bhroin makes her debut in Japan with the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra. Ní Bhroin leads the orchestra in two performances: the first, to open their season, on 11th April at Sumida Triphony Hall, followed by a second concert on 12th April at the renowned Suntory Hall in Tokyo, one of Japan’s most prestigious concert venues.

The programme opens with Grażyna Bacewicz’s Overture for Symphonic Orchestra followed by Clara Schumann’s Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 7, performed by acclaimed Japanese pianist Aimi Kobayashi. Following the interval, the orchestra presents Camille Saint-Saëns’ Symphony No. 3 in C minor, Op. 78, ‘Organ Symphony’, one of the composer’s most monumental works. The performance features organist Motoko Murozumi.
