Jonathan Stockhammer returns to Symphoniker Hamburg this weekend for jump-in performances, with pianist Anton Gerzenberg.

On Saturday, Jonathan conducts Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite, Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto No. 1, and Richard Strauss Ein Heldenleben at the famous Elbphilharmonie.  On Sunday, the concerto will become Jörg Widmann’s ‘Trauermarsch’ at the Hamburg Laeizhalle.

Having made his debut with the orchestra in October, where he gave a warmly reviewed performance of Copland, Sibelius, Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, Helmut Peters of the Hamburg Abendblatt wrote “Stockhammer and his exceptionally well-prepared symphony orchestra transported us into the world of nature-loving Beethoven… Hopefully this conductor will return soon”.
