José Salazar makes Royal Ballet debut
Today marks conductor José Salazar’s official debut with The Royal Ballet, leading the first of five performances of Frederick Ashton’s ‘La fille mal gardée’ over the next week.
After two seasons as a Jette Parker Artist at the Royal Opera House, José is thrilled to return this season and looks forward to further performances of ‘La fille mal gardée’ this summer in London and Tokyo.
Alongside his busy schedule as a Dudamel Fellow with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, José conducts a range of ballet works this season, with upcoming highlights including returns to Birmingham Royal Ballet with ‘The Nutcracker’, and debuts with Greek National Opera Ballet in ‘Giselle’ and New York City Ballet in their ‘Balanchine and Ratmansky’ Triple Bill in January and February 2026.
We wish José the very best for the week ahead – toi toi toi!
