Nicolas Namoradze’s Neurorecital Recognised by International Press
This summer at the Verbier Festival, Nicolas Namoradze received enthusiastic critical acclaim for his Neurorecital, an innovative performance that merges classical music with live visualisations of brain activity — a project that has captured wide attention, including from San Francisco Classical Voice, Classical Music Magazine and the Financial Times.

Designed in collaboration with research teams at Neuroscape (UCSF) and the Brain Dynamics Lab (University of Calgary), the Neurorecital combines Bach, Debussy, Scriabin and Ravel with a real-time display of Namoradze’s brain functioning, offering audiences a rare, multisensory insight into the mind of the performer. Critics have described the experience as not merely a concert, but a profound exploration of music, cognition and performance.
Part of Verbier’s ideaLAB series, the recital concluded with a thought-provoking Q&A between Namoradze, neurologist Prof. René M. Müri and music journalist Charlotte Gardner, exploring how this form of visualised neuroscience can deepen our understanding of musical interpretation and emotional expression. While in Verbier, Namoradze also sat down with James Jolly for an interview about the Neurorecital for Studio VF/medici.tv — the conversation can be viewed here.
The success in Verbier paves the way for the Neurorecital’s UK premiere as part of Lancaster Arts at Lancaster University on 25 September.
