Jonathan Stockhammer makes his debut with the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra this week, conducting a concert as part of Tokyo Opera City’s Composium 2025, which focuses on the music of Austrian composer Georg Friedrich Haas. The programme includes the Japanese premieres of the Haas’ Concerto Grosso No. 1 for four alphorns and orchestra (2014) and “… e finisci già?” for orchestra (2011), as well as Mendelssohn’s Hebrides Overture and Mahler’s Adagio from his Symphony No. 10.

This concert marks Stockhammer’s return to Tokyo following three acclaimed performances of Poulenc’s Les Dialogues des Carmelites at the New National Theatre Tokyo with the Tokyo Philharmonic in March 2024.
