This evening, Christian Kluxen makes a much-anticipated return to the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra, of which he is Principal Guest Conductor. With its inspiration rooted in the mystical nature of Lapland, Christian and the orchestra perform Eight Seasons for theremin and orchestra by Kalevi Aho — who has recently celebrated his 75th birthday — for which they are joined by world-leading theremin virtuoso Carolina Eyck for Kalevi for whom the piece was written. The programme also features Olivier Messiaen’s Les offrandes oubliées and Béla Bartók’s Concerto for Orchestra. The concert is live-streamed at 7pm and can be viewed here.

Hot on the heels of this, Christian returns to the Victoria Symphony, of which he is Music Director, for Brahms’ Symphony No. 4 in E minor and A German Requiem, the season finale.
