Tess Jackson, Associate Conductor of the NYO, has spent the last week working on a special project with the organisation. Although only in its second year and following its huge success in 2023, the ‘NYO Inspire’ programme provides unbiased opportunities to hundreds of teenage musicians to join in musical fellowship and work on key elements of ensemble music making, culminating in performances at Blackpool Tower Ballroom today. An advocate and inspiration to young musicians, Tess has recently led creative workshops with rising young composer Dani Howard, who as Resident Artist enjoys ongoing collaborations, and on this summer’s course assists Nathalie Stutzmann as the orchestra looks forward to appearances at Saffron Hall and various Summer Festivals.

Recently named as a ‘Rising Star’ by Classic FM, and alongside her Musical Assistantship at the Volksoper Wien – where she conducts two performances of Cabaret later this Spring, during 2024 Tess looks forward to returning to Garsington Opera, where in 2023 she made her debut with The Bartered Bride alongside the Philharmonia Orchestra, and to assisting Enrique Mazzola at The Lyric Opera of Chicago.
