This weekend, Italian-American violinist Francesca Dego appears with the LPO, conducted by Kahchun Wong, in both Brighton and Eastbourne. Alongside Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, Francesca performs a pinnacle of the solo violin repertory: Brahms’ Violin Concerto, with cadenza by Ferruccio Busoni, whose centenary is celebrated this year. Francesca’s recording of the Brahms (alongside Busoni’s Violin Concerto, Op. 35a) with the BBC Symphony Orchestra conducted by Dalia Stasevska will be released by Chandos on 1st March.

These two concerts follow hot on the heels of Francesca’s appearance with the Ulster Orchestra — where she is Artist in Focus this season — and conductor Daniele Rustioni for Brahms’ Double Concerto for violin and cello with Daniel Müller-Schott. (Ulster Hall, 9th February).
