New signing: conductor José Salazar
JBM is delighted to welcome conductor José Salazar to the roster for worldwide general management. Born in Venezuela and mentored by Felipe Izcaray (the highly regarded conducting teacher whose son Carlos is also a JBM client) he was educated within El Sistema, attending conducting studies at the Special Program for Academic Development in Caracas with Gregory Carreño. An exceptional student, he was selected to participate in an international exchange with the University of Göteborg, Sweden, for the master programme of Orchestral Performance. From 2018 until 2023, he worked as Artistic and Music Director of El Sistema Greece, performing and programming concerts in Greece’s most prestigious concert venues and festivals. He is currently the Jette Parker Ballet Conductor at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, working with the Royal Ballet for two seasons until 2025.
