Christian Kluxen has been announced as Turku Philharmonic’s new Principal Guest Conductor, starting from the 2023/24 season. As part of his new position, Christian will lead three subscription weeks per season with the orchestra, which is one of the oldest in the world and has seen a number of illustrious conductors including Jean Sibelius. Since making his feted debut in Turku in 2016, Christian has been a regular guest, conducting repertoire such as Nielsen’s Symphony No. 4, Strauss’ Death and Transfiguration, Stravinsky’s Petrushka, and most recently Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 8.

Christian’s first performances as Principal Guest Conductor, taking place in autumn 2023, will feature Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem.
