This week, Christian Kluxen returns to his home-town orchestra, the Copenhagen Phil, and Tivoli Concert Hall for a performance of Danish, Russian and British masterpieces, all composed within 30 years between 1878 and 1908. Opening the concert with Nielsen’s tone poem Saga Dream, orchestra and conductor are joined by Canadian violinist James Ehnes for Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto before turning to Elgar’s Variations on an Original Theme, the Enigma Variations.
